A recent report published by The Mirror is suggesting that Real Madrid are looking to sign Spanish shot-stopper David de Gea from Manchester United as returning manager Zinedine Zidane is unconvinced by former Chelsea man Thibaut Courtois.
Manchester United are unarguably one of Europe’s biggest football clubs both in terms of current strength and historic presence. They have played some amazing matches over the course of time which has seen them win a multitude of trophies.
They have always been a strong force in the transfer market with a massive financial backing and usually get the players they want. Some of the signings over the years have trolled hugely successful results for them as well.
Sir Alex Ferguson was arguably the greatest manager in English league football history and he had a knack for identifying the brightest young talents ahead of his counterparts. Like was seen in the under the radar signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Alex clearly knew what he was doing.
This is why nobody questioned his decision to sign Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea from Atletico Madrid when veteran Edwin Van der Sar announced his retirement. David was immediately identified to be a prospective goalkeeper with a massive bag of tricks under his sleeve.
The Spaniard is extremely unorthodox is his style and is quite renowned for the way he uses his feet. Never afraid to go head-on into a challenge, his reaction time inside the box has to be the envy of some of the best goalkeepers in the world.
He boasts quick feet and also extremely composed on the ball. He is extremely sharp with his goal-kicks while he has the ability to pick out passes that help launch counter-attacks. He positions himself extremely well and is supremely agile in the box too.
He has been an absolute rock at the back for United over the years and is a real fan-favourite at Old Trafford. The Spaniard’s efforts in Manchester certainly didn’t go unnoticed with the Spanish national side either as he was part of the Spanish contingent that went to Russia for last year’s FIFA World Cup
He has made 39 appearances for the Spanish national side but it’s the antics with his Premier League club that have really won over the fans’ hearts. He has singlehandedly won Manchester United an amazing number of games and on his day, can feel unbeatable.

Without the majestic Spaniard in this United side, who knows where they would’ve ended up after the last few years that they’ve had. Tying him down to a new long-term contract with a completely deserved pay-raise should be the priority because when Real Madrid come calling, it’s not easy to ignore.
