Manchester United Opinion: United must move for Luciano Acosta

According to a report from The Sun, Premier League giants Manchester United had scouts over in the United States of America watching former star Wayne Rooney’s DC United teammate Luciano Acosta with the view of a possible summer transfer.

It is suggested that United, Fenerbahce and PSG are are keeping a keen eye on the young Boca Juniors academy product. The Parisians even came close to settling a deal with DC United in the winter window before they eventually called it off due to certain technicalities.

United’s scouts have been watching Acosta for a while now but they seemed to pick the wrong match to go to. Wayne Rooney’s DC United side were beaten 4-0 by Los Angeles FC, thanks to a Diego Rossi hat-trick which made the youngster’s night an unhappy one.

To have Manchester United send scouts to watch you is a massive achievement.

Born in the massive Argentine port city of Rosario, the youngster began his playing career at Boca Juniors during the youth level. Over time through, he developed into quite the talent and this earned him a place in the first team without too much ado.

He spent a loan period at Estudiantes before he was shipped out to DC United in an attempt to develop his massive potential. Once the MLS club got their hands on him through, there was no going back as after a year-long loan, he made his move permanent in January 2017.

Since making the switch, Acosta has turned into one of DC United’s star players alongside Rooney. The diminutive Argentine attacker has the pace and trickery to really excel in the Premier League and certainly has the potential to develop a lot more.

He’s scored just 1 goal from the first 5 MLS appearances this season but the last lesson, he got 10 goals and 15 assists from his 33 league games.

Supremely quick on the ball and hard to bring down, the little Argentine boasts an extremely low centre of gravity allowing him to slalom past any incoming challenges with no real difficulty. His trickery is another one of his assets while he can also be a good team player.

Manchester United have lacked a certain degree of creativity going forward this season and with Juan Mata and Ander Hererra’s contracts set to expire in the near future as well, they’ll do well to lure this talented Argentine to Old Trafford as he could have a massive future in England.
