Premier League Opinion: Manchester Derby – A Combined XI
The Premier League season is now on its final leg and as we call curtains on yet another memorable title-race, the eventual winner could be decided on the final matchday.
While both Manchester City and Liverpool will be confident about their chances, one match could decide the whole thing considering the situation.
Rather poetically, this massive responsibility has fallen on the head of the Manchester Derby.
With just a single point separating leaders Liverpool from Manchester City, Pep Guardiola will have to use all of his managerial genius to find a way around their toughest remaining test – Manchester United at Old Trafford.
With the entire season potentially hanging in the balance for City, it is essential for them to get the victory in order to trump Liverpool. United themselves will still be hopeful of getting top-4 despite their embarrassing 4-0 defeat against on the weekend.
Here’s a combined XI consisting of both Manchester City and Manchester United players:
GK Ederson
The City shot-stopped did concede an absolute blunder of a goal in recent weeks but David de Gea’s poor form means that he’s found a place in this side.
RB Kyle Walker
The former Tottenham Hotspur man has been the Premier League’s standout right-back for a while now and deserved a spot in this side.

The French centre-half has been a rock at the back for City this season and has even been utilised as a full-back during periods in the season.

The Englishman has don’t exceptionally well to keep the other City centre-halves out of the side and with United’s defence faltering, Stones takes his place.
LB Luke Shaw
The English speedster has been one of United’s only consistent performers along the campaign and his attacking runs from left-back have caused issues.
CM Fred
The Brazilian was frozen out in earlier weeks but recently, he has really stepped up to the plate for United and put in some rather dominant displays.
CM Ilkay Gundogan
The German international has been one of City’s best players this season especially considering that Fernandinho has seemingly fallen off the pace.
CM Scott McTominay
The young Manchester United star has stepped into the spotlight for United when their big players failed to perform and did well over the last few games.
RW Bernardo Silva
The versatility that the Portuguese winger offers Guardiola makes him an absolutely crucial part of the setup that Manchester City are organised by.
ST Sergio Aguero
The Argentine talisman has been in the form of his life again this season and his place in this team was never really under question
