Why signing Ante Rebic will add more firepower to Manchester United’s attack
All the Premier League clubs have been on a signing spree since the start of the transfer window and Manchester United are no different. The Red Devils gaffer shouldn’t settle for anything lesser than winning the league title next season. In order to achieve that target, Jose Mourinho must include more firepower in the attack.
The Portuguese manager had his eyes set on Real Madrid star striker Gareth Bale, who had thoughts about leaving the club due to the lack of game time under Zinedine Zidane. But Mourinho’s plan came down crashing after the sudden departure of Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. With former Spain boss Julen Lopetegui in charge of Los Blancos now, Bale might drop the idea of moving out and take Ronaldo’s place.
Following this blow, Mourinho has shown interest in signing Croatian World Cup star Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt. Rebic recently moved to Frankfurt on a permanent deal after spending two years with the Bundesliga outfit on loan. With the sudden rise in demand for the Croatian forward – thanks to his impressive performance in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup – Manchester United have launched a €50 million bid to tempt Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt have made it clear that if a right offer comes their way, they would sell Rebic. Now, let us take a look at the reasons why Ante Rebic will be a perfect fit at Manchester United.
Croatian World Cup Hero
Rebic played an integral role in Croatia’s success at the FIFA World Cup, as the team made it all the way to the final. The 24-year-old started in six of the seven games and his stunning goal against Argentina in the group stages set the ball rolling for Croatia. With a pass success percentage of 60.7, he had 74 successful passes over the course of the tournament.
Strengths
Rebic is known for his long shots and dribbling skills which add more value to him as a player. His work rate on the green lush is another major plus for the young lad.
In the quarterfinal match again Russia, Rebic was only next to Luka Modric when it came to overall dribbling. Despite playing throughout the 120 minutes, he still continued to outrun his opponents and posed a challenge to the Russian defense.
A big game player
Rebic was always considered as a big game player. The Croatian was the star of the 2017/18 DFB-Pokal final, when he helped Eintracht Frankfurt stun Gernam heavyweights Bayern Munich 3-1. The charismatic forward scored two sensational goals to ensure that the club won its first silverware in 30 years.
Hence, United must definitely go all out to sign him this summer.
