Man United should make a new offer for Ante Rebic next summer
According to a report from the Mirror during the January transfer window, Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ante Rebic revealed that he wants to secure a move to the Premier League in the future.
Manchester United were widely linked with a move for the 25-year-old forward last summer, while north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were also keen on making a move for the Croatian international. (Mirror)
Rebic played a pivotal role in Croatia’s march to the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 and his blistering form in the Bundesliga has put the Premier League giants on red alert. The 25-year-old has accumulated seven goals and three assists in 16 league appearances this term.
A youth product of Croatian club RNK Split, Rebic was snapped up by Serie A outfit Fiorentina, but he failed to make an impression there. However, a loan move to Frankfurt in 2016 helped him get his career back on track, with the forward joining the Bundesliga club permanently following a couple of successful loan stints.
Known for his pace, power, drive, agility and athleticism, Rebic has the versatility to play across multiple positions in the attacking third. While he is a winger who is capable of playing out on either flank, the 25-year-old has also been used through the centre as a supporting striker.
Regarded as a dangerous wide forward for his direct style of football, the Croat likes to take the defenders on with his pace and skills, cutting inside from the flanks to create chances. His eye for goal from long and close range coupled with his crossing ability makes him a handful against any defence.
To put things into perspective, United should reignite their interest in the Croatian powerhouse next summer despite failing to land him in their previous attempts.
United didn’t indulge in any sort of transfer activity in January but they must look to bolster their forces ahead of the upcoming season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s free-flowing football has witnessed the resurgence of players like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba. However, the Red Devils should look to add at least another top-quality attacker to their ranks to replace the misfiring Alexis Sanchez.
The former Arsenal man hasn’t lived up to his price tag at Old Trafford and the club shouldn’t hesitate to get him off their books in the summer. On the other hand, an in-form attacker like Rebic can make them a more formidable attacking force. That being said, United should reignite their interest in the Croatian ace in a bid to reshape their squad to challenge for the title.
