Manny Pacquiao is, without a doubt, one of the biggest and most famous names in modern professional boxing record. Nicknamed “Pac-Man”, he is regarded as one of the best boxers of all time.

Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing and has won twelve major world titles. He is also the only boxer to hold world champions across four decades – (1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s).

In his illustrious career, the 41-year-old has made a host of records to his name. He is the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship in five different weight classes and the first to win four world titles in the eight glamorous divisions: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.

Pacquiao has a record of 62 wins, seven defeats and two draws in his professional boxing career. He has a 54.93 percent knockout record.

Pacquiao turned professional at age 16, although he had previously earned a spot on the national Filipino team at 14. He had an amateur record of 60 wins and 4 losses.

He won his first major title in 1998, knocking out Chatchai Sasakul to capture the World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight title. The boxer followed this up by winning the super bantamweight title in 200, before winning the featherweight championship in 2003, beating Marco Antonio Barrera.

Soon, other high-profile fights followed and along with them, numerous titles and tribulations. By 2009, he had won titles in a record seven weight classes and increased it to eight a year later, when he defeated Antonito Margarito for the WBC super welterweight title.

Perhaps, the biggest bout of his career happened in 2015 against a then-undefeated Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao ended up losing the fight in a controversial decision. For a brief period in 2016, the Pac-Man considered retirement, but came back to rack up a few more victories.

Pacquiao, full name Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Phillippines to Rosalio Pacquiao (father) and Dionisia Dapidran Pacquiao (mother).

He is the fourth of six siblings, one of whom – Alberto “Bobby” Pacquiao is a politician and also a former professional boxer. Pacquiao’s maternal uncle, Sardo Meija, introduced him to boxing when he was 12 years old.

The 41-year-old married Jinkee Jamora on May 2000. They have five children together – Emmanuel Jr. (Jimuel), Michael Stephen, Mary Divine Grace, Queen Elizabeth and Israel. Jimuel is an amateur boxer.

As things stand, there is no fight announced for Pacquiao at the moment. His win against Thurman in 2019 remains his last bout, with the 41-year-old since busy carrying out his senator duties full-time.
