Why Morgan Schneiderlin could revive his career under Marco Silva at Everton
According to Liverpool Echo, Morgan Schneiderlin has labelled new manager Marco Silva “demanding” and someone who “pays attention to details”. As per the report, the French midfielder has claimed that Silva is always ready to listen to details to make progress individually and has helped him work on his flaws.
Everton have played some entertaining free-flowing football this season and are currently unbeaten in the ongoing season. While the Toffees are yet to face the big guns of the Premier League, the new manager should be happy with the way the team has gelled together, especially in the attacking third.
Everton have successfully returned with greater intent in the current term after a campaign of instability under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce last time around, which saw the Toffees finish 8th in the Premier League. It was not enough for a Europa League playoff spot and Everton have every reason to expect brighter things under Silva’s stewardship.
Morgan Schneiderlin, who had joined Everton for a fee of £24m, has looked in much better shape this season and has made more of an impact in his central midfield role. He has been handed three starts by Silva so far and he has grabbed his opportunities with both hands.
The 28-year-old, who had struggled under Koeman and Allardyce, has begun the campaign on a positive note and has already registered an assist this season. Although he made 30 appearances for Everton last season, he was far from his best and did not register a single goal or an assist.
Silva has given the Frenchman the responsibility of patrolling the midfield and he seems to be aware of his role in the team. And it has shown in his gameplay. He has been more fluent and confident with his passing and has shown good pressing abilities to cut out attacks from the centre of the park. He has been excellent with his interceptions and tackling, successfully shielding the young centre-backs from too much exposure to attacks.
Marco Silva has a reputation of extracting the best out of his players and Richarlison is a true testament to that. He also played a major role in reviving Oumar Niasse’s career when the Senegalese was loaned out to Hull City in 2017.
With Silva at the helm of affairs, Schneiderlin has already shown signs of returning to the top of his game and Everton have every reason to look forward to brighter things from the Frenchman.
