With six wins out of six, Liverpool have made their best ever start to a Premier League season and Jurgen Klopp’s men currently sit atop the standings.
The Reds have played one of the most intense and attractive brands of football this season. In fact, they successfully replicated their domestic success on the European front when they beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 for their Champions League opener.
The defeat to Chelsea in the League Cup shouldn’t worry Klopp too much, given that Liverpool dominated large quarters of the game despite having several of their key players starting from the bench.
The two Premier League giants clash once again in a high-voltage game on Saturday as Liverpool make the trip to Stamford Bridge.
Adam Lallana and Divock Origi remain on the treatment table to nurse their groin and ankle injuries respectively. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk has a slim chance of making it to the bench after suffering a rib injury last week.
Alisson Becker (GK)
The new signing has solved Liverpool’s worries at the back with some fantastic saves and he should replace Simon Mignolet for the weekend clash.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)
The youngster has been a commanding presence at the back for the Reds and has looked threatening while going forward. He should start on Saturday.
Joel Matip (CB)
The Cameroonian has visibly improved his positional play and game-reading abilities and must start against Chelsea in van Dijk’s absence.
Joe Gomez (CB)
The youngster has cemented his place in the first-team with some solid performances and he must start once again against Chelsea.
Andrew Robertson (LB)
The Scotsman has been wonderful with his all-around displays down the left side and should replace Alberto Moreno, who had a horrible night in the League Cup tie.
Naby Keita (LCM)
The Frenchman had a good game in the League Cup and could have scored a goal. He looked balanced in his contribution to the attack and the defence and Klopp should hand him a start ahead of Jordan Henderson.
Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)
The Dutchman has been a regular name for Liverpool this season and has had a strong influence on the proceedings in the centre of the park. He should start on Saturday.
James Milner (RCM)
The veteran has been Liverpool’s unsung hero this season. Not only has he contributed with goals and assists but has also been influential with his work rate. He should start this weekend.
Mohamed Salah (RW)
The Egyptian hasn’t been able to replicate his heroics from the previous season but he had a good game against Southampton and Klopp must not bench him for this one.
The Senegalese forward has been one of the most consistent performers for Liverpool this season and he should start on Saturday.
Roberto Firmino (CF)
He made a slow start to the season but has picked up the pace in the last few games and Klopp should hand him a start ahead of Daniel Sturridge.
