Maxime Cressy: Personal Life

Maxime Cressy was born to Gerard Cressy and Leslie Cressy on May 8, 1997, in Paris, France. Gerard is a Frenchman who has always been supportive of his son making a career in tennis. Maxime has two siblings, Jonathan Cressy and Mathiew Cressy. He played for his country of birth, France before 2018.

In the 2020 US Open, Cressy made his Grand Slam main draw debut after receiving a wildcard. He defeated Jozef Kovalik in the first round before going down to fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round.

In the 2021 Australian Open, Cressy qualified for the main draw and made it to the second round courtesy of a win against Taro Daniel. Cressy’s journey once again ended in the second round following a loss against sixth-seeded Alexander Rublev. At the 2021 US Open, Cressy crashed out in the second round.

The 2022 Australian Open saw Cressy pull off a huge upset in the first round as he defeated veteran John Isner in a five-set thriller. Cressy got the better of Tomas Machac in the second round and Christopher O’Connell in the third round. In the fourth round, he went down to eventual finalist Daniil Medvedev in four sets. At Eastbourne, Cressy made it to the finals before losing to compatriot Taylor Fritz. The 25-year-old bagged his first ATP tour title when he defeated the likes of Mitchell Krueger, Steve Johnson, John Isner, and Alexander Bublik to win the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

Cressy has continued building on the success with impressive performances in the Winston-Salem Open and the Tel Aviv Open. He reached the quarter-finals in both of those tournaments.
