Wright attended his high school at Champlin Park. In his senior season, the Point guard averaged a massive 23 points with eight rebounds and seven assists per game. Followed by his impressive performance in the state quarter-final in 2017, he was awarded Minnesota Mr Basketball by the basketball association. Wright was initially committed to play for Dayton but at last, he ended up committing to play for Colorado.
Wright started his college career at the University of Colorado Boulder. During his freshman year, the Champ averaged 14.2 points with 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. His numbers were quite impressive in freshman year. He was named the All-Pac-12 in both the All-Pac-12 Team and the All-Defensive Team. It’s rare to achieve both honours in a single season. Again in his Sophomore season, he received the All-Pac-12 first team and the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team rewards.
At the end of his junior year, Wright entered his name into the 2020 NBA draft. But within a few weeks after enrollment, Wright reversed his decision, withdrew the name from the draft and entered back into his senior season at college. He performed well in his senior season.
With lots of positivity, Wright entered the 2021 NBA draft. But it was a disappointment as he went undrafted. After becoming a free agent, Wright signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Followed by it he also spent time with their affiliate G team the Iowa Wolves.
After he joined the Phoenix Suns for the 2022 NBA Summer League, he was signed by the Dallas Mavericks on September 2022. Right now based on his performance, the Mavericks have promoted his contract to a two-way contract.
