The world No. 56 Jaume Munar will take on the world No. 60 Arthur Rinderknech in the round of 32 at Metz 2022 on Tuesday.
Jaume Munar coming into Metz 2022
The Spaniard began the year with a run to the quarterfinals in Melbourne, where he lost to America’s Maxime Cressy in straight sets. In the next few tournaments, Munar did not manage to progress to the quarterfinals and exited in the first rounds at the Australian Open, the Rio Open, and the Miami Open. He won a Challenger event in Marbella in April and another Challenger event in Perugia in June.
The 25-year-old finally had a decent run at a WTA event when he made it to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open. Munar is coming into the tournament on the back of a first-round exit at Flushing Meadows. He lost to compatriot Roberto Carballes Baena in four sets.
Arthur Rinderknech coming into Metz 2022
The 27-year-old had a great run in Adelaide as he made it to the final, where he lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis. Rinderknech produced another strong display at the Qatar Open in February, where he reached the semifinal. After a few rough results in the following tournaments, Rinderknech won a Challenger event in Poznan.
The Frenchman lost another final in Vancouver against compatriot Constant Lestienne. Rinderknech is coming into the tournament after being ousted in the second round of the US Open by defending champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.
