Stan Wawrinka

The 37-year-old has not been in great form this year. He has been ousted in the first match in seven tournaments this season. Wawrinka progressed to the round of 16 at the Italian Open and the Queen’s Club Championships where he suffered losses against Novak Djokovic and Tommy Paul respectively.

The 3-time Grand Slam winner is coming into the Moselle Open after an unfortunate US Open campaign. Wawrinka retired mid-match during the first-round clash against lucky loser Corentin Moutet at Flushing Meadows. This was after the young Frenchman won the first two sets. Sofar in the Moselle Open, Wawrinka has managed to win his first qualifying match against Laslo Djere 6-4, 6-3.

Zsombor Piros

The 22-year-old has primarily played in Challenger events this season. He tasted success at the Tampere Open, defeating Harold Mayot to win the title. This was the first Challenger crown for the Hungarian tennis pro.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head currently stands at 0-0 as Stan Wawrinka and Zsombor Piros have never faced each other.

Prediction: Stan Wawrinka to win in straight sets.
