5th seed Cameron Norrie begins his Mexican Open campaign when he faces Adrian Mannarino in the round of 32 of the Mexican Open.

Cameron Norrie

Cameron Norrie

The 27-year-old has been in impeccable form this season. He has won 18 matches this year, which is more than any other player on the ATP circuit.

Norrie comes into the tournament on the back of a triumphant campaign in the Rio Open. After losing the finals of the Argentina Open to Carlos Alcaraz, earlier this month, Norrie avenged that loss in the Rio Open final, beating the Spaniard 5-7, 6-4, 7-5. The British No. 1 has already reached three finals this year and is one of the frontrunners to go the distance in Acapulco.

The French veteran played some decent tennis in the Dallas Open and the Delray Beach Open. He was ousted in the quarterfinals in both events by Wu Yibing and Taylor Fritz, respectively. This was after he had a couple of not-so-memorable campaigns in the ASB Classic and the Australian Open.

Mannarino did not have a fruitful outing in the Challenger event he played in Monterrey, last week. The southpaw crashed out in the first round following a loss to Aleksandar Kovacevic. The 34-year-old will have his task cut out when he faces the in-form Norrie.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

Cameron Norrie and Adrian Mannarino have faced each other on 4 occasions. The British star has a 3-1 lead in the head-to-head scoreline. In their most recent encounter in the 2021 Delray Beach Open, Norrie picked up a win in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.

Prediction: Cameron Norrie to win in straight sets.
