The 2022 Miami Open has just begun and there are many big names who will hog the limelight. There might be another underdog story like we saw in the recently concluded Indian Wells competition

Daniil Medvedev will have the chance to reclaim his No. 1 ranking. The Russian sensation rose to No. 1 for the first time in his career in February. He took the coveted position from Novak Djokovic.

However, Medvedev’s run was short-lived as he dropped to No. 2 when he bowed out of the Indian Wells at the Round of 32 against the French Gael Monfils.

Medvedev can get back to the top with a good result in the Miami Open. On the other hand, Alexander Zverev will look to get the rub of the green after a frustrating start to 2022. There are players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Matteo Berrettini who can win the trophy.

A two-time champion at Miami, Andy Murray (2009 and 2013) might find himself pitted against Daniil Medvedev if he manages to go past Federico Delbonis in the first round.

The defending champion Hubert Hurkacz will look to defend his crown as he awaits his opponent in the Round of 64.

Nick Kyrgios will be one to look out for as he had a strong performance in the Indian Wells. He lost to eventual finalist Rafael Nadal in the Quarter-final in a closely-fought thriller.

The top seeds at the Miami Open 2022 are the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Anett Kontaveit among others. Karolina Pliskova and Ons Jabeur will also be in the limelight. Both had underwhelming performances at the Indian Wells. They were eliminated at the Round of 64 by Danka Kovinic and Daria Saville respectively.

Swiatek comes into the tournament in red-hot form. The polish tennis player won both the Qatar Open and Indian Wells Masters. A hattrick isn’t a far-fetched prediction for the 20-year-old.

Belarussian top seed Aryna Sabalenka, who also bowed out of the Indian Wells at the Round of 64 stages will look to justice for her talent. The defending champion Ashleigh Barty, who just announced her shocking retirement at just 25, will be missing.

Former champions Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, Grand Slam champions Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, Jelena Ostapenko, and Petra Kvitova also feature.
