Former world No. 4 Bianca Andreescu faces 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the round of 128 of the 2023 Miami Open on Tuesday.
The Canadian youngster has not been in great form this year. Her best result came in the Thailand Open when she made it to the semifinals with wins against Anastasia Zakharova and Marta Kostyuk. Since the semifinal loss to Lesia Tsurenko, Andreescu has managed to win only 1 out of her last 4 matches.
Andreescu played in the recently concluded Indian Wells. Her journey began with a come-from-behind win against Peyton Stearns in the round of 64. In the following round, the 22-year-old lost to Iga Swiatek. Andreescu will hope to string together a few wins and get her season back on track ahead of the French Open.
The 20-year-old has not played much tennis this season. She retired during her second-round match against Viktoria Kuzmova in the ASB Classic. Raducanu defeated Tamara Korpatsch in the first round in the Australian Open before losing to Coco Gauff in the second round.
In Indian Wells, Raducanu played some good tennis to defeat the likes of Danka Kovinic, 20th seed Magda Linette, and 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia. Her run ended with a loss to top seed Iga Swiatek in the round of 16.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-0 in favor of Bianca Andreescu. She was leading their only previous encounter in the 2022 Italian Open 6-2, 2-1 when Raducanu was forced to retire.
Prediction: Emma Raducanu to win in three sets.
