In 1984, he won the German junior go-kart championship, and in 1987, he won the European Kart championship. He won the German F3 championship in 1990 after upgrading to the Formula Three (F3) league.
He married Corinna Betsch in August 1995. They have two children: Gina-Marie and Mick Schumacher. His brother, Ralf Schumacher was also a Formula One driver for ten years. His son Mick, and nephew David Schumacher are all racing drivers. The racer Sebastian Stahl is his stepbrother.
Michael Schumacher accident
Schumacher suffered a catastrophic brain injury while skiing with his family in the French Alps in December 2013. While descending the Combe de Saulire near Méribel with his son Mick, he met with a severe accident.
He slipped and hurt his head on a rock while crossing an off-piste region between Piste Chamois and Piste Mauduit. Despite wearing a skiing helmet, he sustained severe injuries.
Following the spectacular accident, Schumacher was transported to the hospital and was placed in a coma while medics worked to revive the racing champion.
It was reported that he was paralyzed and bound in a wheelchair. Following that, his family relocated him to Gland, Switzerland, where he is continuing his therapy.
However, seven years after his injury, the racing legend is thought to have suffered terrible health consequences as a result of being confined to his bed for so long.
