Michelle Waterson popularly known as ‘Karate Hottie’ was born on January 6, 1986, in Aurora Colorado. Early in her life, she was very fond of gymnastics, but due to a lack of proper financial support, she switched to karate.
She rose to fame when she featured in two reality shows. One, Fight Girls on the Oxygen Network; the other Bully Beatdown in the MTV/MTV 2 network.
She was also working part-time at Hooters and also as a ring girl in various MMA promotions during her college phase. That was when she met Donald Cerrone, who inspired her to take up MMA.
And, now she is one of the most notable women fighters in the MMA world.
As of 2021, Michelle Waterson is believed to have a net worth of approximately $700,000. A large chunk of it is due to her time in the UFC, since she has been a part of the promotion for almost 6 years.
Her last fight was against Angela Hill in September, which she won via. split decision and Waterson received a whopping $175,000, since it also came along with the Fight of the Night bonus.
Waterson has a pretty decent record in her professional MMA career. Having fought 27 times, she has won 18 of them, and lost 9.
Waterson made quite a name for herself in the Invicta Fighting Championships, in only her second fight she won the women’s atomweight championship beating Jessica Penne via. submission.
After defending her atomweight title once and then losing it in the next, she switched to the UFC. Waterson has fought 11 times in the UFC, winning 6 and losing 5.
She just has one knockout loss to her name which came during her time at Apache Gold.
Waterson is married to Joshua Gomez, who is a former U.S. Armed Forces amateur boxing champion. The pair married in 2012, and together they have a daughter named Araya who was born in the year 2011.
Not much is known about her family except the fact that she is of Caucasian and Thai descent.
As far as her endorsements are concerned, she is sponsored by Drink BodyArmor.
