Mike Bibby won an Arizona state championship with his high school team, Shadow Mountain High School under Coach Jerry Conner. He then enrolled at Arizona University and led them to an NCAA Championship in 1997. He scored 19 points in overtime in the championship game against the University of Kentucky. With an average of 17.2 PPG, 5.7 APG and 3.0 RPG in his sophomore, he was named Pac-10 Player of the Year. Shortly after, he declared for the NBA draft and was picked second overall by the Vancouver Grizzlies.
Bibby averaged 13.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game in his rookie campaign and continued to grow at a steady pace. After two more seasons, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings. He formed a highly entertaining partnership with Chris Webber and put on a solid display against the LA Lakers in the 2002 Western Conference finals. Sacramento awarded him a lucrative deal in the off-season, playing 8 seasons with the franchise.
In 2008, he was traded to the Atalanta Hawks with whom he signed a three-year extension worth $18 million. Bibby’s leadership abilities and unselfish attitude earned him plenty of praise which helped the Hawks to two consecutive playoffs. Injuries started to take a toll on his career as his career began to dwindle from thereon. He spent his final years with the Washington Wizards and also gave up a $6.2 million contract to play for a contending team. In 2011, he joined Miami Heat as their starting point guard and made it into his first NBA finals, losing to Dallas Mavericks.
