Mike Krack is a motorsport engineer, who is currently the Team Principal of Aston Martin F1 team. He has been associated with the motorsport industry for close to three decades and has had a very successful career till date. Krack is one of the most well-known names in the Formula One fraternity.
During his illustrious career so far, Krack has worked at BMW Sauber F1, as the chief engineer; Porsche WEC team, as head of track engineering; and at BMW, as the Head of Engineering, Operations and Organization for Racing and Testing. He took the big step upward to F1 in 2022, when he joined Aston Martin as the Team Principal, replacing Otmar Szafnauer.
Krack began his journey in motorsport in 1998 as a test engineer for BMW. In 2001, he joined Sauber and eventually became the Chief Engineer for BMW Sauber, where he worked closely with F1 icon Felipe Masa. Krack left BMW in 2008 and had brief stints in Formula 3 with Kolles and Heinz Union and Hitech. He returned to BMW as chief engineer in 2010 but soon left the team to join Porsche in 2012.
At Porshe, Krack worked as the Head of Track Engineering for their World Endurance Championship team. In 2014, he left them to rejoin BMW again, as a senior performance engineer. From 2014 to 2022, he successfully carried out multiple roles including overseeing their Formula E, IMSA and GT programmes. In 2018, he was given the role of Head of Race & Test Engineering, Operations & Organisation before he joined Aston Martin as Team Principal in 2022.
