Mike Trout Contract Details

Mike Trout is currently taking home $35.54 million per season, on average. He has a massive $426.5 million contract spread across 12 years. According to SportsCenter, it could easily surpass half a billion-dollar mark if all incentive and bonus criteria are met.

Trout, a two-time AL MVP finished his last deal in 2020 after which he got rewarded with a 12-year deal. At the time, ESPN’s Jeff Passan stated that the deal was the largest contract in the history of professional sports. That is astounding in itself. But soon after, it was Patrick Mahomes who broke the record with an ever higher pay bump.

Trout’s contract has no opt-outs as it tacked on 10 years to his previous agreement. He previously had signed a $144.5 million deal in 2014. The record for the highest contract in baseball was previously set by Bryce Harper of the Phillies at $330 million across 13 years. This is not just life-changing money for the players. This is what you call generational wealth.
