Predicted Liverpool XI to face Burnley in the Premier League
Divock Origi’s 96th-minute winner handed Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday and the Reds will be the outright favourites to bag all three points when they make the trip to Turf Moor to face a struggling Burnley unit.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently 2nd in the standings, just two points behind league-leaders Manchester City and the onus will be on them to keep up the pressure on the Citizens at the top of the table.
Burnley slipped down to the relegation zone after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last week and the Clarets will have to produce nothing short of a miracle to halt Liverpool’ juggernaut.
Team News
Sadio Mane suffered an ankle injury and is doubtful to feature in the mid-week clash while Jordan Henderson is back in contention after serving a one-game suspension.
Andrew Robertson is struggling with a thigh injury and his selection will be subject to a late fitness test while Adam Lallana is also a doubt for Wednesday’s game.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is a long-term absentee for the Reds.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Predicted XI
1. Alisson (GK)
The Brazilian made some sharp saves against Everton and has always been a reliable presence between the sticks.
2. Trent Alexander Arnold (RB)
He wasn’t at his best against Everton but Klopp should continue to back the youngster.
3. Joe Gomez (CB)
The Englishman put in a solid shift at the back in the last game and showed good awareness to clear the ball off the line.
4. Virgil van Dijk (CB)
The Dutchman has been one of the first names on Klopp’s team sheet this season, putting in consistently impressive performances at the back to help his team enjoy an unbeaten run in the Premier League.
5. Alberto Moreno (LB)
The injury to Robertson might open the door for the Spaniard to get a rare start in the Premier League.
6. Fabinho (CDM)
The Brazilian has looked quite good with his passing and ball-distribution and Klopp should continue to hand him more starts to allow him to settle down.
7. Georginio Wijnaldum (CDM)
The Dutchman has contributed a lot to Liverpool’s midfield with his tireless running and flawless passing and he should get a start for this one as well.
8. Roberto Firmino (CAM)
He hasn’t hit top gear this season and the game against Burnley will be a good opportunity for him to get his confidence back.
9. Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)
He contributed a lot to the attacking play up front against Everton with his energy, vision, passing and movement and Klopp should continue to rely on him.
10. James Milner (LW)
Sadio Mane is struggling with an ankle injury and Klopp is unlikely to risk him in a game where Liverpool are such strong favourites. The veteran Englishman should get a start for this one.

The Egyptian wizard has done a good job as the spearhead of the attack in recent weeks and he will once again be Liverpool’s best bet to find the net.
