Minecraft Marketplace Pass is now available in Minecraft. This article covers the details of this monthly subscription.
If you are not familiar with in-game monthly subscription services, do not worry. A few games introduce in-game subscription models to boost their revenue and reward players with in-game cosmetics and various other bonuses.
The 1st game to make this famous was Grand Theft Auto 5 Online where they introduced a monthly subscription service called the GTA+ which gave players in game currency and a few other rewards for their virtual character.
What is the Minecraft Marketplace Pass?
Similar to the GTA+ service, the Minecraft Marketplace Pass is a monthly subscription for Minecraft that offers players more than 150 items that are created by the community to be utilized in the game. It also includes some limited time bonuses that players can access and embrace. This might be a controversial method to earn revenue by the developers but it is completely optional for the players to purchase.

Minecraft Marketplace Pass vs. Individual Item Costs
Since this is a subscription service, the cost of individual items is a lot more than the stuff players can get via the Minecraft Marketplace Pass. This is typically how subscription services work as they let players utilize their service which offers a lot more compared to individual transactions for individual in-game items.
Does the Marketplace Pass offer a better deal than microtransactions?
Yes, the Minecraft Marketplace Pass offers a much better deal than microtransactions. Do not be confused with other forms of transactions such as deluxe editions because they might offer something new entirely. Since microtransactions are the only source of revenue for free-to-play games, in the case of Minecraft, the Marketplace Pass offers a better deal as it is a subscription service on top of the base game.

Is the content new every month?
It does seem like there is new content every month available for players. This means that every month, the cosmetics and community created content changes as the months pass by. My assumption is that if a player does not claim previously available items, those items can be purchased via microtransactions adding another layer of revenue source for the game.
Can I keep the content forever if I cancel my subscription?
Yes, it is confirmed that if an item is claimed, it will be in your inventory forever. To clarify, even after a player decides to end the subscription, any claimed item when the subscription was active will be available for players to utilize in the future playthroughs. It is a great feature for players debating to get this Minecraft Marketplace Pass.
Does the Marketplace Pass work on all Minecraft platforms?
The Marketplace Pass is confirmed to be available on the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition only. This means that the Marketplace Pass is available on the Windows, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and the mobile versions of the game (AKA Minecraft: Bedrock Edition).

Can I share the Pass with my friends?
Sharing a pass is possible but with a few limitations. To put things in perspective, if you run a private Minecraft Server, the Marketplace Pass items can be shared with up to 10 friends. So it is a joy for yourself and your friends if anyone gets this Pass.
