Chelsea Opinion: Why the Blues should go all out to sign Pablo Sarabia?

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Chelsea star Eden Hazard was spotted in Spain, posing for a photograph whilst holding a young boy’s Real Madrid jersey.

The Belgian, 28, all but confirmed he would be leaving Stamford Bridge after he inspired Chelsea to a thumping 4-1 victory against Arsenal in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez recently stated that his side are desperate to sign Eden Hazard this summer. The Los Blancos are known to be keen admirers of the Belgian playmaker, who is regarded as one of the finest attackers in world football.

Replacing Hazard would be a difficult job for Maurizio Sarri, who finished his first Premier League campaign third in the table, whilst winning the Europa League.

Sevilla star Pablo Sarabia was targeted in January, but the midfielder ‘rejected’ the chance to join the Blues, as per the Daily Mail. In the end, the Blues’ only January signing was the loan capture of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.

If Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban gets overturned by the Court Of Arbitration, the Europa League champions must reignite their interest and sign Pablo Sarabia this summer.

Sarabia, who joined Sevilla from Getafe in 2016, enjoyed an excellent 2018/19 campaign as he managed 23 goals and 17 assists across all competitions. His numbers in La Liga are also impressive, having found the net 13 times and laid on 13 more.

After Cesc Fabregas left for AS Monaco during the January transfer window, Chelsea’s midfield lost a creative spark.

Jorginho, Ross Barkley, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all blew hot and cold throughout the course of the season, with a key link between midfield and attack missing for much of the campaign.

Sarabia could be that missing link between midfield and attack for Chelsea next season. The Spaniard has exquisite control on the ball that allows him to glide past defenders even under pressure.

Also, he has a box of tricks up his sleeves and can easily evade the press using his nimble footwork. The 27-year-old has a good turn of pace and is extremely dangerous when running directly at the defenders.

The ex-Getafe star possesses the ability to open up even the meanest of defences with a killer pass in the final third. Free space will be considerably lesser in the Premier League but the Spaniard has the ability to split the defences with his vision. Sarabia is also aware of defensive duties and often tracks back to help his team when required.

Verdict

Chelsea must replace Hazard by bringing in Sarabia this summer. The Spanish attacker can make the Blues’ attack potent next season, whilst changing Sarri’s side and making them challenge for the title once again.
