During the regular season, each Major League Baseball (MLB) team plays a total of 162 games. This is usually played out over around six months, with each team playing virtually every day and taking rare days off. The regular season typically begins in late March or early April and concludes in late September or early October, followed by playoffs and the World Series.

The MLB season normally lasts from late March or early April until late September or early October. Each of the 30 MLB teams plays 162 games during this period, with roughly half of those games played at home and the other half on the road.

The top five clubs from each of the two leagues (American League and National League) advance to the playoffs at the end of the regular season. There are three rounds in the playoffs: the Wild Card Round, the Division Series, and the League Championship Series (LCS). The Wild Card Round is a one-game playoff between the two best teams that did not win their division.

The Wild Card Round winner goes to the Division Series, a best-of-five matchup between the division winners and the Wild Card clubs. The Division Series champions progress to the LCS, a best-of-seven series to determine the American League and National League champions.

The LCS champions advance to the World Series, which is also a best-of-seven series to determine the MLB champion. Typically, the World Series is held in late October or early November.

Overall, the MLB season is a long and arduous path for teams and players, with regular-season consistency and playoff success essential to win the World Series.
