Oswaldo Cabrera has been the name on the rise in MLB as he could become a potential star for the New York Yankees.
Given the strength of their roster, the New York Yankees are once again among the teams who could win the World Series. They have an excellent combination of veteran elite players and some really decent young players in their roster as well.
Oswaldo Cabrera, one of the team’s younger players, who is just 24 years old has emerged as a tremendous asset for the Yankees. As a result of his recent stellar performance against the Baltimore Orioles, he has earned the confidence not only of the fans but also of manager Aaron Boone.
Cabrera has played in 6 games so far this season, and he has a batting average of.368 along with 7 hits, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. It is obvious that Cabrera needs to make significant strides offensively, but despite this, Boone has placed his faith in his player as they head into a grueling season consisting of 162 games.
During the 2016 season, Cabrera participated in 44 games and had a fielding percentage of.247. He also hit six balls out of the park. A number of scouts have put him on their watch lists, and they are of the opinion that he has the potential to become an uncontested starter for the New York Yankees.
When was Oswaldo Cabrera drafted?
Oswaldo Alberto Cabrera is a native of Venezuela and was born in the year 1999. Cabrera comes from Guarenas in Venezuela. At the age of 16, he became a Yankee after the franchise signed him as an international free agent. During the 2021 season, Cabrera was a member of the Somerset Patriots of the Double-A Northeast league. He finished the year as the league’s most valuable player and led the league in both hits and runs batted in.
With adding him to their 40-man roster, the Yankees ensured that he would not be available for selection in the Rule 5 draught that would take place after the regular season. Cabrera will begin the 2022 campaign with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders after the Yankees sent him to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on option.
Cabrera was brought up to the major leagues by the Yankees on August 17, 2022, and he made his first appearance in the major leagues that same day as the starting third baseman. In his first six games in the major leagues, he started at several positions, including right fielder, second baseman, and shortstop.
In Yankee Stadium, Cabrera hit his first home run in the major leagues in September of the previous year, and it came against the right-handed pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, Calvin Faucher. On September 21, Cabrera hit his first grand slam, which came off the bat of Roansy Contreras, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
During the 2022 season, he had 154 at-bats for the Yankees and had a batting line of.247/.312/.429 with six home runs and 19 RBIs. He started 27 games in right field, nine games in left field, four games at shortstop, and three games apiece at first base, second base, and third base. He also played three games at each of the other three positions.
