Freddie Freeman wanted to stay in Atlanta after winning the championship last season, but his agent and the franchise were not able to strike a deal.

Freddie Freeman recently returned to Atlanta to face his former team, the Atlanta Braves. Freeman, who is now with the Dodgers, received his championship ring. He was greeted warmly in his first game back at the stadium where he spent his entire career.

Freeman got quite emotional and was overwhelmed by the support of Braves fans. He said, “Last time I was on this field, there was a big stage in the middle of this field, because we accomplished something so special. From the bottom of my heart, and my family’s heart, we thank you for the support you’ve shown my family and I for the last twelve years.”

Following his emotional return to Atlanta, reports emerged that Freddie had parted ways with his agent. It’s being reported that Freddie was unhappy with how the free agency was handled, and how he had to leave Atlanta for Los Angeles, which he did want in the first place.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN: “Freddie Freeman, who has told friends he’s angry with how his free-agent negotiations played out, is changing representation, away from Excel. He is currently listed as being self-represented.”

“Last weekend in Atlanta was a very emotional time for me and my family” – Freddie Freeman

Freddie Freeman spoke about parting ways with his agent. It was a clear indication that Freddie felt the love from the Braves fans. As a result, he started to ponder the decision to join the Dodgers.

Freddie said, “Last weekend in Atlanta was a very emotional time for me and my family. I am working through some issues with my longtime agents at Excel. My representation remains a fluid situation and I will update if needed.”

Freddie Freeman has six years left on his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s very unlikely that he’ll leave the team despite all the circumstances around him.
