All you need to know about when will Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers will return from his injury.
Max Muncy, a power hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is expected to return to the lineup today. Prior to Muncy’s injury, manager Dave Roberts indicated that the infielder would play third base once he was healthy again. The fact that Muncy, who is 32 years old and has hit 18 home runs this season in just 251 at-bats, will be returning to play for the Dodgers should provide them with a significant boost in terms of their team’s power.
It is likely that Michael Busch, who is 25 years old and has been playing third base in the absence of both Muncy and utilityman Chris Taylor, will be taken out of the lineup when Muncy returns to the lineup.
After Muncy’s return, it is anticipated that Busch will be moved to second base, where it is possible that he will continue to see playing time. That would take playing time away from Miguel Vargas, who is 23 years old and has struggled badly this month, posting a slash line of.150/.246/.300 in 70 plate appearances.
Since being called up from Triple-A on June 16, Busch has also been struggling at the plate. He has posted a similar slash line of.192/.250/.308 in a smaller sample size of only 28 plate appearances. It is possible that Roberts will have the opportunity to better prepare the younger players for their upcoming matchups if he uses both players in a timeshare at second base.
On June 13, the Los Angeles Dodgers put Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a strain to his left hamstring. The injury is considered to be serious. Additionally, on the same day, the Dodgers sent right-handed pitcher Michael Grove to the team’s Triple-A affiliate in order to give him more playing time.
As a result of his hamstring injury, Muncy was unable to move around freely. He had hoped to steer clear of the IL, but he is still not functioning up to his full potential. Emmet Sheehan, a right-handed pitcher, made his debut in the major leagues last night. In addition, the Los Angeles Dodgers promoted infield prospect Michael Busch from Triple-A Oklahoma City and called up Emmet Sheehan.

While Max Muncy was out with an injury, the Dodgers initially played Chris Taylor at third base instead of Muncy. Taylor took over for Muncy while Muncy was on the injured list. Later, Busch took over for him. Busch, who had been chosen in the first round of the previous draft, played in seven games at the beginning of the year and had 23 at-bats. His batting average was.211/.348/.211.
In recent days, Muncy has been taking part in hitting practice, and it is not anticipated that he will require a rehabilitation assignment prior to being activated. On the offensive side of the ball in 2023, Muncy has had an interesting season. His batting average is below.200, which isn’t great, but he’s been among the leaders in the league in home runs the entire season, and he currently leads the Dodgers with 18 home runs in 60 games played.
Chris Taylor, another infielder, has also had a difficult time getting back to full strength as he continues to treat his sore knee. Although he won’t be in the starting lineup, he will be available to come in as a pinch hitter in crucial situations. At this point, Taylor is at bat.206 (34 for 165) with 11 home runs, seven doubles, and 26 runs batted in over the course of 59 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently in third place in the National League West standings, and they will be hoping to make a quick comeback or else this season may turn out to be a complete washout.
