Kodai Senga is a Japanese citizen who plays baseball in MLB for the New York Mets. On March 15, 1993, he was born in the city of Fukuoka, which is situated on the southern island of Kyushu.

When Senga was in primary school, he first picked up a baseball bat and instantly developed a passion for the sport. He attended Chikuyo Gakuen High School in Fukuoka, where he was a standout player on the baseball team. In the first round of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) draft in 2011, he was chosen by the SoftBank Hawks to play for their team.

Senga began his professional career by playing in the minor leagues, where he spent the first few years of his career working on developing his talents and acclimating himself to the professional game. As a relief pitcher for the SoftBank Hawks in 2015, the year he made his professional debut, he participated in a total of 16 games.

The following year, Senga was given a starting role as a pitcher for the Hawks, and he wasted little time in proving himself to be one of the most formidable competitors in the league. He concluded the season with a record of 15-5 and an ERA of 2.39, earning him the Pacific League Rookie of the Year award.

Kodai Senga signed a five-year contract with the New York Mets in 2022 that was worth a total of $75,000,000 and included a signing bonus of $5,000,000, a guarantee of $75,000,000, and an annual average salary of $15,000,000. In the year 2023, Senga will bring in a total pay of $15,000,000, comprised of a base salary of $14,000,000, a signing bonus of $5,000,000, and a total salary of $15,000,000.

Before that, in 2018, he had a record of 13-8 with an ERA of 2.79 and was named to the Pacific League All-Star squad. Prior to that, he was named to the National League All-Star team. Because of his outstanding performance in 2019, during which he posted a record of 11-6 and an earned run average of 2.79, he was selected to play for the Japan national baseball team in the Premier12 competition.
