Which team is Edwin Rios playing for in 2023?

All you need to know about which team is Edwin Rios will be playing for in the upcoming 2023 MLB season.

Edwin Rios, a corner infielder, has been given a contract by the Cubs to play in the major leagues. On the arrangement, Rios is assured to receive $1 Million. As a member of the Dodgers, he has participated in each of the past four Major League Baseball seasons. He has never had more than 32 appearances in a single season, which is a testament to both the strength of the position player pool in Los Angeles as well as Rios’ personal history of injury.

Rios who bats left-handed has been placed on the injured list in each of the previous three seasons due to various injuries. He missed big chunks of time during the past couple of years due to ailments affecting his right shoulder and right hamstring, respectively. He suffered a left hamstring injury in 2020, which caused him to miss some time.

These illnesses have put a damper on what had been an encouraging beginning to Rios’ career in the major leagues. After just 292 at-bats, he already has 20 home runs, nine doubles, and a triple. His batting average and on-base percentage (respectively.219 and.299) have suffered as a result of his high strikeout rate of 32%, but his slugging percentage of.492 is highly impressive when compared to that of MLB pitchers. In 27 games played during the previous season, that power surge resulted in seven round-trip home runs.

He has proven himself to be an excellent offensive player throughout the course of an even greater body of work at the Triple-A level. The baseball player who attended Florida International has spent parts of four seasons playing in the top level of the minor leagues.

Edwin Rios can turn around his career with Cubs

The Cubs were intrigued enough by Rios’ production that they decided to secure a slot for him on their major league roster. At the beginning of the offseason, the Dodgers made the decision not to give him a contract because they did not want to keep him on their roster at a price that was estimated by an MLBTR writer to be approximately $1.4 million.

Although we do not know the specifics of his contract with Chicago, we may speculate that his base salary will be somewhat cheap. The fact that he won’t have to fight his way onto the 40-man roster is the most significant change that has occurred.

In just under 1200 at-bats, he has compiled an impressive batting line of.282/.349/.526, has walked 8.2% of the times he has come to the plate but has struck out 31.1% of the time. Although Rios’s skills with the bat to the ball are poor, there is little doubt that he possesses significant power upside.
