Mark DeRosa is leading the USA team by example in the World Baseball Classic and he is close to creating history.
Since its inception in 2006, the World Baseball Classic (WBC) has served as a platform for international competition in the sport of baseball. In the baseball games that have been played over the past few weeks, there have been some very exciting moments. The United States of America is in a position to win their second consecutive championship in a row. Mark DeRosa, a former player for the Chicago Cubs, is currently serving as the manager of Team USA.
During his 16-year career in Major League Baseball, Mark was a lifelong journeyman and utility player who wore eight different jerseys. Throughout 2007 and 2008, he was a member of the Chicago Cubs and played with them for two seasons. Throughout this stretch of time, he appeared in 298 games and had a batting average of.289, with 31 home runs and 159 runs batted in.
Mark was appointed as the manager of Team USA despite the fact that he had no prior experience working in a professional coaching capacity. Since he retired, he has been working as a co-host for the daily morning show on the MLB Network called MLB Central. In this role, he has been there since the beginning. On the other hand, he is not unfamiliar with this international competition. When he competed in the World Boxing Championship in 2009, he did so wearing the colors red, white, and blue.
It is thanks to all of his expertise that Team USA is now in the position to compete for the championship. The stage is ready, and the match versus Japan will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern Time in Miami and will be broadcast on Fox Sports.
