All you need to know about why Noah Syndergaard ended up signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of this season.
After becoming a free agent in November, numerous teams were rumored to be interested in signing Noah Syndergaard. Several people were of the opinion that the pitcher could have gotten a higher salary somewhere else, despite the fact that he ended up signing a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers worth $13 million.
The Los Angeles Dodgers did not engage in excessive spending during the offseason in order to bolster their squad; rather, they opted for moves that carried a low degree of risk and a high potential reward. First and foremost, the Los Angeles Dodgers were successful in reaching an agreement with starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who had previously played for the Los Angeles Angels.
Speaking about the decision to sign with the Dodgers, Syndergaard said, “There might have been more money on the table with another team, But I wanted to give myself the best chance to get back to the World Series and win it all. And I wanted the best coaching and direction that the sport has to offer, and I’m fully convinced that that is with the Dodgers.” (H/T Clutchpoints)
After having Tommy John surgery in 2020, Syndergaard finally made his long-awaited comeback during the 2021 season. Before to that, he had missed the previous two seasons due to injury. After that, the veteran right-handed pitcher went on to participate in the 2022 season for both the Los Angeles Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies. His four-seam fastball velocity averaged 94.5 mph last year, and most of the conversation surrounding his last two seasons has concentrated on the discernible slowdown in his fastball velocity.
