All you need to know about what happened to Max Muncy and why is he not playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers?
Max Muncy has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that they have done so retroactively to June 13. In addition, the Dodgers have optioned right-handed pitcher Michael Grove to their Triple-A affiliate.
For the past few days, Muncy’s hamstring injury has left him unable to move freely. He had hoped to avoid the IL, but he is still not operating at his full capacity. In addition, the Dodgers have called up infield prospect Michael Busch from Triple-A Oklahoma City and gave right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan his major league debut last night.
Tonight, Chris Taylor will take over for Max Muncy at third base for the Dodgers while Muncy is on the disabled list. As part of Busch’s second stint in Major League Baseball, he might also factor into that mix. The player who had previously been selected in the first round appeared in seven games at the beginning of the year and had 23 at-bats, batting .211/.348/.211.

This season has been a challenging one for Grove, as evidenced by his 8.10 earned run average across 30 innings pitched and seven appearances.
