Laura Sanko was grateful to Robbie Lawler for making her fall in love with MMA
UFC 290 might have been one of the best PPV cards in years. The prelim and main cards had everything you would want from a UFC event.
Incredible finishes, incredible fights, many talking points, several face-offs after fights and then a few retirements too.
One of them was Robbie Lawler. The former UFC Welterweight Champion took on Niko Price on the prelim card and finished his opponent in style.
Lawler is a legend of the sport, and Laura Sanko praised the retiring star. The 40-year-old Sanko posted a heartfelt message for the retiring star and claimed that he was the one that got her to fall in love with MMA.
She added that Lawler was the last of his kind and made MMA what it is today. The UFC commentator also met him backstage and got the chance to have a few words with him.
The former champion finished off his career in style, and had an emotional moment outside of the Octagon as he was soaking the atmosphere in.
Lawler had spoken about his retirement fight for a long time, and many were quick to thank him for all he had done in the UFC.
However, one man didn’t believe that the former champion was retiring. Conor McGregor was watching UFC 290 and tweeted a lot throughout the event.
One tweet of his suggested that Lawler wasn’t done with MMA. McGregor claimed that the former champion would be back in action before the end of the year.
It is to be seen what is next for Lawler. There are other combat avenues outside of the UFC and he could do some bare-knuckle fighting or even try his hand out at celebrity boxing.
For now, the legend seems to be done but nothing is a guarantee in this sport.
