Anthony Pettis cashed in on his younger brother Sergio Pettis’ success at Bellator 272

It was a memorable night for Bellator Bantamweight World Champion Sergio Pettis. The 28-year old going into his first title defence took on Kyoji Horiguchi at Bellator 272.

At one point it looked like the title would slip from Pettis’ grasp. He was certainly losing the fight to the Japanese.

However, in the fourth round, Pettis landed a vicious spinning back fist that knocked Horiguchi out cold.

He lay motionless, even as a respectful Pettis refrained himself from landing the finishing blow.

Pettis had won the title in May 2021 at Bellator 258 after beating Juan Archuleta via. unanimous decision.

That was Pettis’ third fight in Bellator after he had made a switch from UFC in 2019.

Sergio Pettis’ brother Anthony Pettis was all eyes as the former took on Kyoji Horiguchi. He had wagered a whopping $10000 in favour of his brother.

Although, at one point, it looked like Sergio might let his elder brother down, the spinning back fist made sure that Anthony got paid big.

Anthony took to Twitter to share the screenshot of his single $10000 bet. Sergio’s win got him a stunning $27,500 — $17,500 in profit.

Pettis tweeted a couple of emojis implying that it was in their family’s DNA to make big money.

Like Sergio, Anthony left the UFC as well. He then joined PFL and has fought two fights so far and has lost both.
