Women’s boxing great and mixed martial artist Claressa Shields suffered the first loss of her professional fighting career on the 27th of October, 2021

Claressa Shields tasted defeat for the first time in her combat sports career, as she went down fighting to Abigail Montes of Mexico at PFL 10.

Although Shields was efficient with her striking, Montes’ ground game proved to be a bit too good – earning her a narrow split-decision victory.

This was Shields’ second fight as a mixed martial artist. She previously took on Brittney Elkin at PFL 4 and earned a third-round TKO win.

Having never tasted victory in boxing and MMA, this was a hard pill for the ‘GWOAT’ to swallow.

Twitterati were quick to react to Shields’ loss. While a few wished her to bounce back stronger, some took a dig at her for suggesting that she would challenge the likes of Amanda Nunes.

Claressa Shields takes on Ema Kozin next

Claressa Shields will return to the Boxing ring next. She will be taking on Ema Kozin of Slovenia in a 10-round fight.

Shields will be defending her WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring female middleweight titles against the Slovenian.

The fight is set to take place at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England on the 11th of December, 2021.

Shields last faced Marie-Eve Dicaire on the 5th of March, 2021 and won via. unanimous decision.
