Corey Anderson and Vadim Nemkov fought in the final of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix
Bellator 277 had a couple of huge clashes on the main card. One of them saw Vadim Nemkov put up his Light Heavyweight title against Corey Anderson.
This fight was also the final of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix. Nemkov might have come in as the champion, but Anderson had the better of the early exchanges.
Some even claimed that Anderson was dominating his rival, but the fight was stopped in the third round after an accidental clash of heads. Anderson was the guilty party in this, and the fight ended in a no contest.
This saved Nemkov’s title and also the final of the Grand Prix remained unresolved. Former UFC champion, Frankie Edgar, also believed that Anderson was getting the better of the champion and posted his thoughts on social media.
While the fight ended in a no contest, that didn’t stop Anderson from sharing his thoughts right after the battle.
The 32-year-old has improved leaps and bounds and had lost just one of his last eight fights before the final against Nemkov.
Anderson also defeated Ryan Bader coming into the final, and he was quick to say that he was the champion despite the no contest call.
Bellator has to run this back and it will be interesting to see how this fight goes. Anderson was dominating his opponent, and could have been crowned the champion if this fight went the distance.
However, this gives Nemkov a chance to figure out his game plan and keep his title.
