Top seeds Koolhof and Skupski will take face the challenge of Mies and Martin in the quarter-finals stage of the Monte-Carlo Masters
Koolhof and Skupski have had a pretty strange 2023 thus far. The World No.1 pair has played really well in all the tournaments they have participated in but they have no silverware to show for it. The duo has faltered in the latter stages of the events or even in the final hurdle and that is something they will desperately want to change in Monte Carlo.
The top seeds are coming into this match after a hard-fought 6-7, 6-3, 14-12 victory against the Russian pair of Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov. The match turned out to be an intense thriller and Koolhof/Skupski held their nerves to come back from a set down and win the tie. They are certainly the favourite to go all the way and will look to win their first title of the season.
Andreas Mies and Fabrice Martin have exceeded expectations so far at the Monte Carlo Masters. The unseeded pair began their campaign with a hard-fought win against Evans and Cerundolo but followed it up with a convincing 6-4, 6-4 victory over Sinner and Schwartzman. Interestingly, this is the first tournament that the pair is playing together in 2023. They will certainly be overwhelming underdogs against the No.1 seeds in the quarter-finals.
