The German duo of Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz will take on third seeds Rojer and Arevalo in the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters
Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz have been very impressive so far at the Monte Carlo Masters. The unseeded German duo started their campaign with a convincing straight-sets win against Shelton and Norrie. They followed it up with a major upset in the second round by defeating No.7 seeds Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna.
Putz and Krawietz are playing together on the ATP tour after a gap of two months but the duo certainly didn’t look out of touch in their first two encounters. The Germans have only played four tournaments together so far this year and made it to the semi-finals in two of those. With another semi-final spot at stake, it remains to be seen if the pair can cause a major upset.
Rojer and Arevalo’s form coming into the match
Jean-Julien Rojer and Marcelo Arevalo are one of the most experienced pairs in the professional circuit. They are seeded No.3 in the tournament and received a Bye in the first round. In the second round, the duo beat Petros and Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling three-setter to set up a quarter-final clash against Putz and Krawietz.
Despite being one of the strongest doubles pairs on the ATP tour, Rojer and Arevalo have had a disappointing 2023 so far. They suffered early exits in their previous two tournaments – the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open. Their best performance of the season came at the Delray Beach Open in February, when they were crowned champions.

Head to head and Predictions
Putz/Krawietz and Rojer/Arevalo have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head-to-head clash between the two pairs. Rojer and Arevalo are the outright favourites going into this match both in terms of form and rankings. It will be an uphill task for Krawietz and Putz in this encounter against the third seeds but they are expected to pose a tough challenge. However, we expect the veteran duo to see off the German challenge and win in straight sets.
