The French No. 1 has reached the quarterfinals of a tournament for the 4th time this season. She has dominated her way to the quarterfinals of the Monterrey Open. In the round of 32, she eased past Kaja Juvan in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Garcia was exceptional with her serves and had a win percentage of 88 on the first serve.

In the round of 16, Garcia produced another professional performance to beat Nuria Parrizas-Diaz 6-3, 6-2. Garcia smashed 8 aces and converted 4 out of 4 break points to rattle the Spaniard.

Mayar Sherif

The 26-year-old came into the tournament with only 1 win behind her this season. She has managed to turn things around with great grit and determination. In the round of 32, she faced Camila Osorio. The first set was close but Sherif bagged it in the tiebreak. Osorio was trailing 6-7 (5-7), 2-4 when she pulled out.

In the round of 16, the Egyptian tennis pro faced Xinyu Wang. This turned out to be a humdinger. Sherif came back from a set down to win the match 3-6, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4. She will have to play her A-game to give Garcia a good run for her money.
