Visit Fallgrim Tower

Fallgrimbis a very interesting place to visit. So keep this location on your list to travel first. However, it has a lot of traps for you awaiting and mysterious surroundings.

As soon as you spawn for the first time be sure to collect the shells on the left before you enter the rocky corridor. Run in the direction of the tower, then turn left to follow the grassy hill all the way around to the back of the tower. A little door with a torch outside should be visible.

Make a plan

The level design in Mortal Shell is like a maze. You won’t have a map to guide you, thus pay attention to everything in your surroundings and understand everything around you.

Manage your meters

Keep an eye on your HP and stamina as you have should know where the Mortal Shell is. You should know what you have at your disposal to ensure you avoid any unnecessary damage. Each shell has different stats

  • Health: Red bar.
  • Stamina: Green bar, used for attack and dodging.
  • Resolve: Small yellow bars above Health.
  • Harden: To the left of the Health and Stamina bars is a circle. When it’s accessible for usage, it glows.
  • Seal: Harden circle contains a little icon. Indicates the seal you are currently using, such as the Tarnished Seal.
  • Shell durability: When you sustain fatal harm, the white dot next to the Harden circle signifies that you’ll reawaken as the Foundling.

Use new items and be alert

You might come across many rare items and you can collect as many as you want, but be sure not to overuse them. The game has a feature called the Familiarity mechanic to know how much to use them. Each time you come across a new item it tells you the familiarity level and increases each time you use them and also unlocks additional effects.

Make sure to use consumables

Compared to the Souls games, Mortal Shell has a totally different healing system. Make sure to rely on consumables and particular attacks for juice rather than keeping little pots on hand to replenish your HP. Consumable items can sometimes be looted from dead foes, but they can also be discovered in chests or on the ground.

Make use of Harden

You can parry and dodge in Mortal Shell, compared to how you’re used to in Souls games, blocking functions slightly differently here. Harden is a strong attack that helps your character to take damage and wavers enemies that attack you. You can use the harden button while striking and dodging and you can hold it down to prevent incoming blows.

Learn to parry

Healing items could fall short when you are facing many mobs at once. Fighting will be a little easier if you can manage the considerably smaller scope than hardening. Now you can unleash an Empowered Riposte that drains your opponent heavily making them weak. It’s recommended that you practice your targets to get an idea of timing. This is one of the most important tips in our Mortal Shell Guide

Collect the Shells quickly

In Mortal Shell, classes are referred to as “Shells.” There are four shells for you to find and you can find them all in your game. Each shell has unique Durability, Stamina, and Resolve stats that you can unlock using Tar and Glimpses. You should be aware of what each shell does.

  • Harros, The Vassal: 250 Tar
  • Solomon, The Scholar: 500 Tar
  • Eredrim, The Venerable: 500 Tar
  • Tiel, The Acolyte: 500 Tar

Since you will be spending your hard-earned currencies on abilities that will suit your game style, its advisable that you get the shells first and learn their abilities.

Grab the shell when it’s safe

You are driven out of your Shell after receiving mortal injury from an enemy for the first time, and then you immediately reawaken as the Foundling. Thus you have very little HP left with you at this state, but if you are able to recover from the shell without any damage, you will get full HP. Thus, it’s advised that you run toward your shell as fast as possible luring your enemy, to gain full HP.

Be aware of Bear traps

Fighting Fallgrim’s enemies requires all the assistance you can get. It’s likely that while traveling, you’ve already come across one or more errant bear traps.

These are the points to keep in mind while you are going into your first adventure. Make sure that you follow all these steps to avoid the traps. Rest you can have a wild adventure and have fun while playing the game. You can lure them into traps makes them easier to defeat. With your lute, you can draw adversaries to you, or you can wait behind a trap for them to fall victim to it.
