Predicted 4-3-3 Manchester United XI to face Southampton in the Premier League
Manchester United underwhelmed once again in the Champions League but were rescued by Marouane Fellaini’s late winner as the Red Devils booked their seats in the knockout stages of the competition.
Jose Mourinho’s men put in a poor performance in the Premier League as Crystal Palace were able to pinch a point with a goalless draw at Old Trafford last week.
However, United will once again be the favourites when they make the trip to St. Mary’s to face Southampton.
Mark Hughes men slipped down to the relegation zone after a 3-2 humbling at the hands of Fulham last week and the Saints will be looking to overturn the odds to get something out of this game.
Team News
Jose Mourinho once again faces a crisis at the back as Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot and Matteo Darmian are all ruled out with injuries.
Apart from that Mourinho will have the entire squad of players at his disposal for selection.
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Jose Mourinho
Predicted XI
1. David de Gea (GK)
The Spaniard once again rose to the occasion in the Champions League to produce a fine save and has always been a reliable presence between the sticks.
2. Ashley Young (RB)
He hasn’t been in great form throughout the season but Antonio Valencia looked pretty rusty in the Champions League on his return from injury.
3. Chris Smalling (CB)
He put in a solid shift in the Champions League and will be expected to do the same on Saturday.
4. Phil Jones (CB)
He was handed a start after a long time in the Champions League and looked really solid which might prompt Mourinho to field him in the eleven on Saturday.
5. Luke Shaw (LB)
The Englishman has been one of the brightest sparks in United’s otherwise lacklustre campaign and he will need to do well this weekend.
6. Paul Pogba (LCM)
He came off the bench in the Champions League game to set up the goal with an accurate long ball but United will need him to do a lot more than that in the Premier League on Saturday.
7. Jesse Lingard (RCM)
He hasn’t done well in recent weeks but Mourinho hasn’t got any in-form players to replace him.
8. Marouane Fellaini (CDM)
The Belgian struggled and looked uncomfortable in a No.10 role in the Champions League and Mourinho should put him back to a deep position in the midfield.
9. Anthony Martial (LW)
The Frenchman has suffered a dip in form after the international break and United will need him to fire if they are to get three points against Southampton.
10. Marcus Rashford (RW)
The youngster missed plenty of clear-cut chances against the Young Boys and needs to work a lot on his finishing.

He came on as a substitute in the Champions League and turned the game in favour of United which should prompt Mourinho to hand him a start for this one.
