Nate Robinson Career
Nathaniel Cornelius Robinson a.k.a Nate Robinson was the Round 1, 21st overall draft pick by the Phoenix Suns (later traded to the New York Knicks) in 2005. Robinson played in the position of Point guard and he is also a three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion (2006, 2009, 2010).
Robinson played college basketball for the University of Washington from 2002 to 2005. He had an extraordinary college basketball career and was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team (2003). He is also a two-time First-team All-Pac-10 (2004, 2005).
After playing college basketball, Robinson was selected twenty-first overall in the 2005 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. However, he was traded to the New York Knicks on draft night itself.
Robinson played for the New York Knicks from 2005 to 2010. During his time with the Knicks, Robinson won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three times (2006, 2009, 2010).
On February 18, 2010, Robinson was traded to the Boston Celtics. With the Celtics, Robinson went to the 2010 NBA Finals but ultimately lost against the LA Lakers.
Then on February 24, 2011, Robinson was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, on December 24, 2011, the Thunder waived Robinson.
On January 4, 2012, Robinson signed with the Golden State Warriors. Then on July 31, 2012, Robinson signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bulls. With the Bulls, Robinson went to the 2013 NBA Playoffs but ultimately couldn’t win a championship.
On July 26, 2013, Robinson signed a multi-year deal with the Denver Nuggets. However, on January 13, 2015, Robinson was traded to the Boston Celtics. Two days later, he was waived by the Celtics.
On March 7, 2015, Robinson signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Again, on March 17, he signed a second 10-day contract with the Clippers. However, he was not retained again by the Clippers.
On October 16, 2015, Robinson signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. Nevertheless, on October 29, he was waived by the Pelicans. Notably, this was the last time he played in the NBA.
After playing in the NBA, Robinson went on to play overseas and achieved commendable success. He finally retired in 2018.
