Anthony Edwards was the No.1 pick in last season’s draft. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and so far the pairing has been good. The Golden State Warriors had the 2nd overall pick in that draft. As a result, prior to the draft, Edwards also worked out with the Warriors.

Recent Anthony Edwards discussed his workout with the Warriors. He claimed he was absolutely shocked by the things that were asked of him. He was no way near ready to train like the Warriors’ players do.

Edwards said, “I’m doing this drill that they say Steph be doing, I’m running, touching the line, shoot. Running, touching the line, shoot. You’ve got to make five in a row. I couldn’t do it. I’m too tired, I’m like, ‘Man, it’s just too much.'”

He added, But I’m not saying this, so I’m just jogging. After the workout, Steve [Kerr] comes to me like, ‘You can’t go any faster?’ I’m like, ‘I thought I was going pretty fast.’ He was like, ‘Nah, do it again.”

“I think that was a stumble in the road for me”- Anthony Edwards on the workout with the Warriors

Even though Anthony Edwards has found immense success with the Timberwolves, he thought he wasn’t ready for the NBA. This was because of the intensity of the workout that the Warriors had asked him to do.

Edwards talking about the workout with the Warriors, further said, “So now, I’m trying to sprint, and now I’m looking all crazy. Missing left, missing right. So then we go to dinner and he’s telling me, ‘Man, if we’re going to draft you at No. 2, you’ve got to be a hard worker. You ain’t working hard enough.’ I think that was a stumble in the road for me. I called my trainer afterward and was like, hey bro, we gotta change up.”

He added, “Steve Kerr told me how Steph and K.D. used to work out super hard. It might not be long, but it’s super hard when they’re in there. Ever since then is when I feel like I took that next step.”

That workout certainly changed Edwards’ mindset. He worked hard on his game and conditioning, and he is reaping the rewards of that. The ‘Ant-Man’ is a stud in this league, and also a human highlight-reel.

The ‘Ant Man’ is ready to become an all-star in the league

Edwards made a huge leap in the current season. The Timberwolves were able to make it to the playoffs, and Edwards had a huge role to play in it. He averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 72 games this season.

Despite having a stellar season, he missed out on making the all-star team. However, next season it is very likely that he will end up being an all-star. His rival LaMelo Ball was able to win the Rookie of the Year award in front of him, and he also made the all-star team before him.

This will definitely ignite a fire in him, as he will be ready to take the league by storm in his 3rd year in the league. His team is in a pretty decent situation, and it is the perfect surrounding for him to achieve success.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have also emerged as a strong team in the West. They were able to make the playoffs this year, and they will be expected to carry this in the next season also.
