After being put under significant pressure by the Indiana Pacers, the Phoenix Suns decided to keep their star center Deandre Ayton on their roster. The Pacers’ decision to make a maximum offer to Deandre Ayton sent shockwaves throughout the entire league.

As things stand, Ayton will continue to play for the same team that selected him in the draught in 2018. The player who was once selected first overall has now secured the max contract for himself. However, it seems like Deandre Ayton isn’t fully happy with the Suns, as he recently stated that he hasn’t spoken with head coach Monty Williams since the game 7 loss against the Mavs.

Ayton said, “Yeah, I’m alright. When I’m inbetween those lines now I just work. I’m not playing for myself. I have an organization across my chest and a name on my back I have to represent. I’m just here to work, man.”

When asked about his communication with the head coach, Ayton said, “I can show him better than I can tell him.” In reply. coach Monty Williams said, “I haven’t talked to a lot of guys.”

It will be interesting to see how the Suns play this season as they hope Deandre Ayton will be locked in to contribute for the team after a shocking loss in last year’s playoffs.
