Where did Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry grow up?
Stephen Curry, one of the most well-known and accomplished players in the NBA, is a native of Akron, Ohio. However, he did not spend much of his childhood in Ohio, as his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when he was just a young child.
Curry was born on March 14, 1988 in Akron, Ohio, where his father, Dell Curry, was playing professional basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time. However, when Dell was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in 1988, the family packed up and relocated to North Carolina, which is where Stephen would spend the majority of his childhood.
Growing up in Charlotte, Stephen and his younger brother Seth both developed a love for basketball from their father, who played in the NBA for 16 seasons. Stephen attended Charlotte Christian School, where he excelled on the basketball court and earned all-state honors in his senior year. He then went on to play at Davidson College, located just outside of Charlotte, where he quickly became one of the most dominant players in the country.
As it turns out, Curry has not forgotten his roots since moving elsewhere.
After being drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA 2009 Draft, Curry has spent the majority of his professional career in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has become one of the most recognizable and popular players in the league, known for his incredible shooting ability and his leadership on and off the court. Curry is a four time NBA champion, and has won the Most Valuable Player award for both the regular season as well as for the NBA Finals.
However, despite spending most of his life in North Carolina and California, Curry has not forgotten his roots. He frequently speaks about his love for the Cleveland Browns, and he has also been involved in charitable efforts in Akron, including donating shoes to underprivileged children in the area. Overall, Stephen Curry’s upbringing in Charlotte and subsequent success in the NBA have made him one of the most influential and beloved players in the league today.
