The Golden State Warriors will be going up against the Boston Celtics in NBA Finals 2022, and there will be many key matchups to watch.

The NBA finals are about to start. The Golden State Warriors who are in their 6th Finals appearance in 8 years will be up against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are in the finals after more than a decade. This is a very old rivalry, and we are about to witness one of the best NBA finals of this century.

There will be many important matchups to watch out for throughout the series. Whoever can win these individual battles can help his team to get a strong advantage throughout every single game.

Here are the most important matchups in the upcoming NBA finals:

  • Stephen Curry vs Marcus Smart

Everyone knows how great Steph is. He is the best shooter to ever play basketball, and every team tries to double team him to reduce his effect on the game. He’ll be guarded by Marcus Smart, who is the DPOY. Marcus has usually caused many problems for Steph as he is a tough guy, and Steph wouldn’t want to be that physical with him.

Moreover, Marcus can score well also as Curry wouldn’t be able to guard him because Smart is too big for him. The winner of this matchup will dictate the pace for their team.

The Boston Celtics are a very physical team. They have size and athleticism which can cause huge problems for the Warriors. Their two best players are Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and they’ll both have a tough matchup in place for the Finals.

  • Jayson Tatum vs Andrew Wiggins

Tatum has been phenomenal throughout the playoffs. He has transcended into a superstar right before our eyes. As a result, the task of Andrew Wiggins to neutralize Tatum will be huge. He was able to slow down Luka a little bit and will be required to do the same here.

  • Jaylen Brown vs Klay Thompson

They both play as shooting guards, but everyone knows how good they both are on both ends. Klay is special and so is Jaylen Brown. However, both of them can be streaky at times, but when they take over, it is usually curtains for the other team. They’ll be required to neutralize each other, otherwise, their teams can be in a problem if one of them gets on a hot streak.
