DeMar DeRozan scored 37 points as the Chicago Bulls defeated Miami Heat without Zach Lavine and Lonzo Ball.
The Chicago Bulls opened up their new campaign with a huge win against the Miami Heat. The Bulls were without their starting back-court as both Lonzo Ball and Zach Lavine were out injured.
However, despite their absence, DeMar DeRozan continued to do what he did last season. He inspired the Bulls to a win against a strong team single-handedly as he scored 37 points against a tough defensive unit of the Miami Heat.
Jimmy Butler, Max Strus, and Tyler Herro had a great night for the Miami Heat as they all scored more than 20 points, but DeMar DeRozan didn’t let the Bulls lose their season opener.
Apart from DeRozan, Ayo Dosunmu and Nikola Vucevic contributed with 17 and 15 points respectively. Zach Lavine who is expected to miss the next game for the Bulls as well due to his knee injury couldn’t contain his excitement about the performance of his teammate against Miami.
Talking about DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine tweeted: “Have no FEAR DeBo is here.” DeMar DeRozan has helped the Chicago Bulls to many wins last year in the absence of Lavine and Ball, and that is what exactly he did in the first game of the season.
