LeBron James has established himself as one of the greatest to ever play the game, but how long has he been in the NBA?
LeBron James is in his own right, one of the best players in the game and one of the greatest to ever step foot in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has had a legendary career packed with team and individual accolades including four NBA Championships, four MVP awards and 15 All-Star selections, and has broken multiple NBA records along the way.
While LeBron became the first ever NBA player to rack up 10,000 points, rebounds, and assists last season, he recently became only the second player ever to score 38,000 career points in the NBA. His most recent accolade came on Tuesday when he broke the long-standing all-time scoring record of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, scoring 38 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
As the Lakers went up against the Thunder at the Crypto.com Arena, LeBron started the game only 36 points away from the tally of 38,387 set by Abdul-Jabbar. It was in the final seconds of the third quarter that LeBron broke the record with a fadeaway jumper, and history was made. While the feat surely cements his legendary status, it also would simply be another record added to a glorious career.
LeBron has been doing it for a long, long time now, and some of the younger fans of our generation often ask how long has the legendary veteran been in the NBA.
How long has LeBron James been in the NBA?
As it turns out, LeBron is currently in his 20th season in the NBA, meaning he has been playing in the NBA for two decades.
After graduating from St. Vincent’s and St. Mary’s School, the rookie was drafted as the first choice pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. While LeBron made his debut in 2003 already having been christened as the “Chosen One”, he made sure that he lived up to every expectation put upon him right from when he was drafted into the NBA.
James won two Most Valuable Player awards during his first stint with the Cavaliers, following which he went to Miami Heat and won his first NBA Championship. Three titles later including ones with the Cavaliers and the Lakers, LeBron is still going as strong as ever in his 20th season.
