To put it in short, Shaq is a once-in-a-lifetime player. His dominance and power were unmatched on the basketball court. Until today, there is no such basketball player who could match Shaq’s level.

Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal was 1992, first overall draft pick by the Orlando Magic. Before joining the NBA, Shaq used to study business and play basketball for Louisiana State University.

A fun-loving and bubbly personality, O’Neal is a versatile human being who has dominated the NBA for nearly two decades.

Shaq began his dominance ever since his rookie year. While playing for the Orlando Magic, Shaq was named Player of the Week in his first week in the NBA, the first player to do so. In his rookie season, O’Neal averaged 23.4 points on 56.2% shooting, 13.9 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game. He was subsequently named the 1993 Rookie of the Year.

In 1996, Shaq joined the Los Angeles Lakers. While playing for the Lakers, Shaq made constant records. Under the able coaching of Phil Jackson and having Kobe Bryant as his reliable partner, O’Neal won three back-to-back championships with the Lakers. He won in the year 2000, 2001, and 2002. Also, he was declared the NBA Finals MVP (2000-2002). In 2000, O’Neal also won NBA Most Valuable Player Award.

In 2004, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat. While playing in Miami, Shaq along with Dwyane Wade won the 2006 NBA Finals. This was O’Neal’s fourth NBA championship.

Finally, in 2011, after playing 19 NBA seasons, Shaq retired from the NBA as a Boston Celtics player. In his 19-year career, Big Diesel averaged 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

On the other hand, Shaq was a part of the ‘Dream Team’ and won an Olympic gold medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

How many Most Valuable Player (MVP) titles does Shaq have?

Shaq has achieved many accolades in his long 19-year NBA career. He has picked up four champion rings, has been a fifteen-time NBA All-Star, and even has been NBA Finals MVP three times.

But Shaquille O’Neal won the regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) title just once. It was during the 1999–2000 NBA season when Shaq won the regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

During his MVP season, that is, the 1999-2000 season, Shaq played for the Los Angeles Lakers. He even won an NBA championship that season.

In his MVP season, Shaq led the league with 29.7 points per game. He also averaged 40 minutes per game and averaged 13.6 rebounds per game. He did all these in a total of 79 regular season games played.
