Draymond Green took the full blame for the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.
The 2016 NBA Finals were one of the best NBA Finals of all time. The Cleveland Cavaliers led by LeBron James did the impossible and came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the championship against the Golden State Warriors.
The moment that changed the momentum of the series was the flagrant foul of Draymond Green on LeBron James. Due to it, he was suspended for a game, and the Cavs never looked back from that moment.
Recently, Draymond Green laid all the blame for the 2016 NBA Finals loss by the Golden State Warriors to the Cleveland Cavaliers on himself. He is aware that the Warriors would have won the championship if that incident hadn’t taken place.
Talking about it, Draymond Green said, “I take that on the chin. I cost us a championship. I’m fine with that. I can take that on the chin. No problem. I own up to my mistakes. Would I do it again? One thousand percent. If somebody try to step over me, I’m going to hit them.”
He added, “What I wouldn’t do again is, I wouldn’t allow myself to be in the position to where someone can make that decision and cost me. And so guess what? If I get to that point again and you step over me, I’m going to try to hit you again. But I wouldn’t be in the same position with flagrant amount of points, with the amount of techs to where I leave that decision in someone else’s hands.”
The Warriors redeemed themselves following that loss in the Finals to the Cavaliers. They went on to win the next two NBA championships and also won another one last season to continue their dynasty.
